The Yarner Centre
In 2015, the Yarner Centre in North Devon became part of the Gaia Trust.
When Gaia took over the properties, it did so knowing that Yarner had for many years, generated insufficient income to maintain the charity as a going concern and to maintain the historic fabric of its buildings, which, consequently had fallen into disrepair. Gaia understood that significant investment was needed to restore the buildings to a state where they could be used to support its charitable activities for many years to come and since that time, with support from the Heritage Lottery's Transition Fund, the Trust has been working hard to develop a sustainable future for the site. Following an exhaustive options appraisal, the Trustee Board of the Gaia Trust has decided, albeit reluctantly, to dispose of all the land and buildings that it owns on the former Yarner estate at Welcombe in North Devon.
