memorial trees

Planting a tree(s) is a popular way to commemorate a special person or occasion. The Gaia Trust has a commemorative tree planting scheme at Treraven Farm where a tree(s) can be planted to form a living legacy that benefits wildlife and the environment. The small young trees are planted in a dedicated area and suitably protected by tree guards in their early years. Species will vary but will always be native/naturalised broadleaves that provide maximum wildlife benefit.

We can only plant trees between October and mid- March, during clement weather, and we cannot plant trees when the ground is frozen, as this would damage the tree roots. The young trees will be between 30cm and 75cm or so when they are planted, but Treraven is good for growing trees and they should establish and grow rapidly.

How it works

If you wish to take part in the scheme to want to know more, please contact Richard Austin, the site manager, on 07769623974, by email or through Facebook

It is our policy not to allow plaques to be fixed on or near the trees. However, we will fix a tree tag to the tree guard, with its own unique identification number so that you can find the tree(s) in the future.

The Gaia Trust cannot guarantee a tree's survival but we will of course work hard to keep losses to a minimum. Should a tree die during the first five years after planting, we will replace it once for free. Any further replacements will have to be done according to the costs set out above.
