Involvement & Support
“Bringing nature and people together” is The Gaia Trust’s mission statement, and our core objectives are founded on the importance of involving people with the natural world. Interaction with the natural world is of enormous benefit to our well-being, and public engagement is essential for the long-term sustainable management of land, its biodiversity and the survival of our wildlife.
Public involvement is central to The Gaia Trust, whether through encouraging appropriate access with permissive paths, school visits and guided walks or organising volunteer days to carry out tasks like hedge planting and scrub clearing, or recording species to help guide conservation work on site. Your records could be very useful to us and to the local county records centre, and a record card is attached for you to download. We are keen to welcome local volunteers and involvement from community groups, so please get in touch.
You don’t have to have practical skills or be an expert to help our work. We depend on funding from a range of sources, from organisations such as the Heritage Lottery, Natural England and the Environment Agency to small private trusts and generous individuals. We do not raise money through membership, but your help in spreading knowledge and support for what we do in your local community or through fundraising activities can be invaluable.
News of specific events and activities are posted on this website, and as our activities develop, further information will become available. If you would like to support our activities, we would love to hear from you. You can find out what is happening at Home Farm Marsh or Treraven Farm by visiting, or use the contact details below.
The Gaia Trust would like to thank those private individuals and local groups whose financial generosity has helped us secure the environmentally sensitive properties that we own, from our larger areas such as Treraven Farm, Home Farm Marsh and Chark Moor to smaller sites like Henwood.
Because we are committed to achieve our aims in partnership and through sustainable agriculture, we are able to remain small with minimal overheads. Money we raise to support our work can therefore be put to productive conservation use, and we are happy to talk to you about particular work that you may wish to support on your local site. If you would like to find out more about how you can help The Gaia Trust through personal donation, legacies, corporate support or other fundraising activity, please use the contact details below. If you are a UK taxpayer, you can also download a Gift Aid Form which can increase the value of a donation by up to 28% at no extra cost to yourself.
