wellbeing hub

The range of buildings and variety of green spaces from garden to farmland at Bodwannick. provide a wide range of opportunities to support local health and wellbeing outcomes, especially for those people most in need. It is tranquil and calm, but still within easy reach of Bodmin and its surrounding villages that are home to more than 20,000 people with a 30% increase predicted by 2030.

Bodwannick is already a location for activities in nature, particularly in the garden. Patients at Bodmin Hospital’s Bowman Unit for people with mental health difficulties have been using it since 2014. This has had been a great success and the relationship continues today. Our plans for Bodwannick build on this and are made up of:

  • The continuation of sustainable farming but from an improved farmyard setting spatially separated from the part of the site focusing on charitable activities.
  • Adaptation and repurposing of the existing buildings and grounds around the Farmhouse for a number of flexible uses including health and wellbeing activities, community use, income generation from Holiday letting
  • The site to be restored to deliver an 'equal access' for all
  • Disposal and conversion of Stone Barns for Residential use
  • A new accessible to all 'Transformation garden'

Our planning application was approved in 2019 and the following sketch shows the proposed conversion of an existing old barn to a shelter for volunteers working at the site. This exciting part of the development will be completed by the end of spring 2022. You can see the full planning documents here.
