Photo: The board walk viewing platform August 2021 - Tom David

our boardwalk

TWith support from capital grant within the site's Higher Level Countryside Stewardship Scheme, the Gaia trust has built a raised boardwalk from the site car park, through some wet woodland to edge of the open grassland/heathland area.

The boardwalk has been designed to provide access for wheelchairs whilst the viewing platform at the end provides a splendid vista across the site. There is a gate that allows access from the platform to the site itself though the terrain and ground conditions make any sort of wheeled access extremely difficult.

In keeping with Gaia's sustainability ethos, the structure itself is made from recycled plastic materials and will not rot or deteriorate like wood. It is designed to be easily and totally removable if required.

The Board walk was designed and built by Naturally Green Countryside Services in August 2021.
